Supplied new Clock Garage, Spondon in September 2008, the car was initially serviced by the main dealer network and then by independents. There are numerous invoices that come with the full book pack showing regular servicing and replacement of items. Recently, we have carried out a full service on the car, replaced front pads & discs, re-gassed the A/C and replaced all the vacuum lines for the 4WD system which is now fully operational.
Mechanical Condition
The car starts well and moves off smoothly, with the gearbox changing up and down nicely. On the move, the car is pleasant to drive and whilst it won’t set any speed records, it will happily sit at 70 on the motorway. The car brakes nice and straight and there are no undue knocks or bangs. It is particularly manoeuvrable due to the excellent steering lock and coupled with the auto box makes it very easy to drive around town. It must be remembered that it is a 17-year-old jeep so will not drive like a BMW, but it has a character all of its own that makes it fun to drive.
Exterior Condition
The paintwork is in good condition and when in direct sunlight it shines well. All panel gaps are even with the original seam sealer in place, indicating an accident-free car. There are various scratches and scuffs around the car but nothing that makes it look particularly scruffy. The tyres all have plenty of tread and will not need replacing for some time.
Interior Condition
The interior of the car is good condition as well, with no rips on in the seats and just the expected marks on the plastics that you get over time. The upgraded stereo is nice to have, allowing streaming from your phone, although the DAB reception is a bit sketchy. All the electrics work without exception and there are no warning lights on the dash.
Summary
Jimnys are very popular cars and having enjoyed this example for a few months we can see why – they are great for buzzing around in and very capable off road (not that we’ve had the opportunity to try!). Autos are also quite rare and naturally command a premium, but we have priced this car sensibly and according to condition.
