Overview
An incredibly rare example of the Mazda MX5 NC, a Sport Recaro Edition, believed to be one of only 48 UK cars sold. An initial 30 were imported in 2013, with a further 18 in 2014 that were apparently destined to be upgraded to Jota spec by Lodge Mazda. However, take up was very poor with only 4 cars being converted, and it’s believed that even 2 of those had the Jota upgrades removed once press duties had been completed.
This superb example has had only 2 owners and covered 20k miles. Specified with the following equipment from new:

Registered in September 2014, this MX5 has been sparingly used over the years by its two owners. The second owner, Mr J. bought the car as an anniversary present to his wife in 2019 and it was used only for leisure, was never used in the rain and kept in a dry garage. Although obviously cherished, more recently the car has not been used much so the difficult decision was taken to sell it. The car has a Mazda service history until the last one carried out by an independent in September 2023 and has never received an MOT advisory.
Mechanical Condition
The car starts without hesitation and settles to an even idle. Suffice to say given the mileage, the car drives like a new car with absolutely no faults, quirks, knocks or funny noises. Simply put it would be difficult to find an example in better mechanical condition.
Exterior Condition
The paintwork is in outstanding condition, and really comes to life when the sun catches the paintwork. This is an accident-free car with consistent panel gaps, factory welds and sealant and devoid of any car park dings along the flanks. The wheels are in near perfect condition and are shod with matching Bridgestone tyres, all with 5mm or more of remaining tread. There are the tiniest marks here and there which are inevitable, but it is unlikely that you will find a better looked after example.
Interior Condition
As expected, the condition of the interior follows the same narrative as the mechanical/exterior – it shows minimal wear, everything works and all dash lights go out as they should. The Recaro seats are significantly more comfortable and adjustable than the standard Sport seats and winter driving is made very comfortable by them being heated. The Bose upgrade to the stereo is a welcome improvement on the standard system. This is a very nice environment to be in, whether on short or longer journeys.
Summary
The NC version of the MX5 is a great example of a usable, cost-effective sports car and has sold very well over the years meaning there are no shortage of cars on the second-hand market. However, this example stands out against the competition due to rarity, low mileage, and superb general condition. At any given time, there are 6-8 Anniversary models on sale – we cannot remember the last time seeing a Recaro Edition for sale, and we are confident it is amongst the best in market.
