History & Documentation
Reg No: PK64KSN
Owners: 5
Mileage: 26,500 warranted
HPI: Clear
MOT: March 2026
Keys: 2
The car has been serviced exclusively at the Brighton BMW main dealer, formally known as Chandlers and now Group 1. Due to the exceptionally low mileage, the car has effectively been over serviced for the mileage, with 5 entries on the iDrive, backed with service printouts. An important service item was the recent replacement of the aircon compressor (also done at Group 1 BMW). This is a well-known issue with the i8, which if left unchecked can cause significant issues as the A/C also cools the batteries, so it is a great comfort to know this has been addressed. The MOT was carried out in March and was passed with no advisories.
Mechanical Condition
Pushing the ‘start/stop’ button creates an unusual, but interesting idle from the 3-cylinder petrol engine. When you ease off in comfort mode, it silently wafts along until you press the accelerator sufficiently firmly to bring the engine to life. Knocking the gear lever over to ‘Sport’ significantly changes the character of the car with both electric motors and petrol motor engaged – you can now enjoy a huge swell of torque accompanied with fantastic grip. The car is much quicker than the figures suggest, due in part to the horsepower figure of 362hp being stated ‘at the wheels’. As you’d expect with such low mileage, the car drives impeccably, with no knocks or bangs and the engine/electric motors all perform as they should. This car really is an event to drive, whether it’s a short or a cross-country trip.
Exterior Condition
The paintwork is in lovely condition with the Sophisto Grey showing all it’s various metallic flecks beautifully. The wheels are all excellent, original condition with only a couple of chips and minor scrapes. They are shod with a full set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres which have covered less than 1000 miles – we took the opportunity to ‘upsize’ the tyres which is a popular modification, so it runs 235 width at the front and 265 at the back which greatly improves the handling, as well as filling out the arches nicely. Closer inspection will reveal some minor blemishes around the car but generally this is a really eye catching car which draws many admiring glances.
Interior Condition
The interior of the car is equally good condition showing an expected level of wear on the leather considering the mileage. The Harmon Kardon audio delivers a solid sound and as you’d expect, all the electrics work without exception and there are no warning lights on the dash.
Summary
The i8 must be one of the most misunderstood cars of the past decade and once you get past the usual ‘should have had a V8’ drivel it can be appreciated for what it is, which is a reliable, economical but rapid GT car that looks like nothing else. In fact, 10 years on it looks better than ever as BMW’s design signature has slowly regressed.
The car will come with a comprehensive warranty and p/x is available. Please feel free to ask any questions.
