Bought in August 1998 by Mr A, this car started its life well, with the original bill of sale showing all the options and accessories specified, resulting in the initial purchase price of an eye-watering £29,040. Servicing was carried out annually regardless of mileage and this continued with the second owner, Mr W, who took ownership of the car in late 2011. He kept the car until September last year when the final registered owner, Mr H purchased the car as the cherished registration was of personal interest. A longstanding client of ours, Mr H knew that the car would be of interest to us so after enjoying the car for the late summer and having transferred the registration the Alfa came to us.
The car comes with an impeccable service history – we have an invoice for every service carried out since 1999 and these are all from main dealers or marque specialists. In total, the invoices add up to over £7500. In addition to the original bill of sale, we also have the original dealer book pack containing service/warranty book and owner’s manuals – we even have a period catalogue for dealer accessories. Notably, the cambelt and water pump were also changed at the last service about 800 miles ago. In summary, you couldn’t hope to have a more comprehensive history and clearly shows loving care from its 2 long term owners.
The car is in excellent mechanical condition, as you would rightly expect given its mileage and service history. The car starts up straight away and settles to a level idle. Moving off, the clutch is light as is the gearbox and once on the move, there are no knocks or nasty noises. The famed quick steering is nice and tight which all adds up to a really pleasant driving experience. Our MOT tester said it was the best they’d ever seen (even when they were 3 years old!).
The paintwork is in great condition and holds a lovely deep shine, all panel gaps are correct and factory welds and seams are all intact confirming no accident damage. The alloy wheels are in great condition with only the slightest of marks here and there – the tyres are virtually new Toyo Proxes which are a great tyre for sporting cars. We happened to have occasion to remove the nearside sill cover this week to repair a broken clip and we were amazed by the condition underneath - not even any surface rust, photos are available on request. The hood is in good condition with no holes or leaks. There is an area of clearcoat degradation on the boot lid which if you wanted the car to be 100% would need attending to, but this is an overwhelmingly stunning example and probably one of the smartest on the market.
The interior is in immaculate condition, with no discernible wear evident on seats, carpets, load space or interior plastics. All the electrics work, all dashboard lights go out as expected. The red leather with red carpets really lifts the interior and it really is an exceptionally pleasant environment to be in, however short or long the journey.
This must surely be one of the smartest examples on the market, in a fantastic colour combination with a high specification. It is clear that the long-term owners have been fastidious in maintenance and even the last owner took a shine to it, however too many vehicles in the collection already! We are certain that it will be equally loved by its new owner. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
